My Life as a SHS Learner

I am Norlyn Traje, from Tangalan National High School, a proud Senior High School student.
The K to 12 program has brought a massive change in the teaching and learning process of education in our country which I guess was interesting because this change is one of the steps for the progress of our nation. As a part of the implementation of the program, Senior High School was added in the high school level and I am very grateful to be a part of the first batch of SHS students of our school. We, the first batch of SHS students are going to enter a new phase of educational endeavor and I am truly interested to do it.
On the first day of school, June 13, 2015, I was able to achieve my first step-never be late on the first day. Since, I will be entering the same school from Junior High I have seen many of my former classmates taking the same track that I have chosen which is General Academic Strand (GAS). Obviously, we started most of our classes by introducing ourselves and because I already knew most of my classmates I only paid most of my attention to the new ones. Most of our classes were more about orientations about Senior High School because even though we are aware about the new curriculum most of us are still curious about the conditions and circumstances it bears. But I am contented about the track I have chosen. I have chosen this track because I want to enhance my academic skills and I also admit that half of myself was still undecided about what course to take on college. Moreover, I have chosen TNHS because I found it as the most efficient school for me.

I have enjoyed my classes because aside of the refreshing lessons our teachers had introduced us from the subjects under our chosen tracks, my friends' comical jokes add an energizing ambiance in our class.

After school, I headed home and did my chores. Then, at night, I reviewed my notes and discovered that we were not given any assignments so, I decided to visit my social media accounts and at the same time researched about the lessons introduced to us at school. And that was my first day! It's was just a normal day but everyday is learning that is why I have learned so much from my first day.

Embracing my being as a SHS Student

Supposing K to 12 was not implemented, I would have been a college student now. I would have been attending classes on a University which is many kilometers away from my hometown. However, I had not felt any regret for being a Senior High School Student.

Our whole school year was divided into two semesters. Our subjects for the First Semester are Earth and Life Science, English for Academic and Professional Purposes, General Math, Empowerment Technologies, Physical and Health, Oral Communication in Context, Humanities I, Komunikasyon at Pananaliksik sa Wika at Kulturang Pilipino, and Understanding Culture, Society and Politics. Moreover, our subjects for the Second Semester are  Reading and Writing Skills, Pagbabasa at Pagsusuri ng iba't ibang Teksto Tungo sa Pananaliksik, Statistics and Probability, Research in Daily Life I, 21st Century Literature from the Philippines and the World, Humanities II, Personal Development, Social Science I, Physical Education and Health.

Our subjects are interesting even by name and knowing that I will end the school year with all the knowledge these subjects will provide makes me even more fortunate for being included to the First batches to experience the K to 12 Program in my country.
